2026 Small Business Tax Deadline Calendar for Nebraska Business Owners

Between federal, state, and payroll obligations, small business tax deadlines pile up fast. Here's a simplified calendar of the dates that come up most often for Omaha and central Nebraska small businesses. This isn't exhaustive — every business is a little different — but it covers the ones that catch people off guard most often.

Quarterly estimated tax payments

If your business pays estimated taxes (common for sole proprietors, partnerships, and S-corp owners), the federal due dates generally fall in mid-April, mid-June, mid-September, and mid-January of the following year. Nebraska generally mirrors these federal quarterly dates for state estimated payments.

Payroll tax deadlines

Federal payroll deposits are typically due monthly or semi-weekly depending on your deposit schedule, with Form 941 filed quarterly. We cover this in more detail in our Nebraska payroll tax deadlines post if you run payroll.

Annual entity tax filings

  • Sole proprietors and single-member LLCs: filed with your personal return, typically due mid-April.
  • Partnerships and S-corporations: generally due mid-March.
  • C-corporations: generally due mid-April, aligned with the personal filing deadline.

Extensions are available for all entity types, but an extension to file is not an extension to pay — any tax owed is still due on the original deadline to avoid penalties.

Nebraska sales tax

If you collect Nebraska sales tax, your filing frequency (monthly, quarterly, or annually) is assigned by the state based on your sales volume. Missing a sales tax deadline is one of the more common small business slip-ups, since it's easy to lose track of a filing frequency that's different from your income tax schedule.

Year-end worker filings

W-2s and 1099-NECs are both due by January 31 to the recipient and the relevant tax agency — a date that arrives right as everyone is still catching up from the holidays.

This calendar is a general guide, not tax advice. Confirm your specific deadlines with the IRS, Nebraska Department of Revenue, or your CPA, since due dates can shift slightly year to year and vary by entity type.

Never track a deadline alone again.

Our monthly bookkeeping keeps your records tax-ready year-round, so nothing is a scramble when a deadline hits.
